not kosher dishes/ovens

Question

Why is it ok to eat something from a non kosher restaurant if the pots and ovens are used for non kosher food? I certainly trust that you know what you are talking about and dont mean to come out sounding disrespectful; however when i try to tell ppl and they start questioning im not sure how to answer so i was wondering if you can help. Also, similarly- if i look at a bag of corn chips for example and all ingredients are kosher can it be a problem if lets say the person who turned on the stove/oven isnt jewish? and the dishes? thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.

The good news is, that they know less than you. You know to follow a Rav, while they think that they have the answers themselves. We say "Stam Keilim Ainum Beney Yomam," and therefore it is considered, "Noten Taam Lifgam." Packaged items bought in the grocery or supermarket are not subject to the restrictions of Bishul Akum. AA
