Oneg?
Question
Re: Chaim, Read my post a little closer: I never said Oneg is Learning, I postulated that it is to help learning (by puting one in a state conducive to learning). I also never said that one who does not learn on Shabbat is doing anything wrong. Also, you cannot hide behind the idea that you can do anything within the confines of Halacha - we do have a concept of Minuval B'rishut HaTorah which is a person who follows the letter of the law and is disgusting, in mans and Gods eyes. Lastly, I said that I am theorizing, and the ultimate halacha should be left to a Halachic authority. My point is that we should not project our own feelings of what is, or isn't, Oneg - or any Halacha for that matter. Some people go too far one way and prohibit many permisable things, and others go too far the other way and permit prohibited things. Ultimately, that is why we have a system of law and it is not left up to how we feel. As for the talk back and forth: bring it on and keep up the good questions/answers/ideas!!! And I agree, it is all about the ideas, nothing personal.
