Organ donor
Question
Can a jew be an organ donor/receipient? Why or why not?
Answer
Answered by Aaron AbadiYes and No. It's a big issue and much politics are involved. Call when it appears to be Nogaiah. Certainly just donating it blindly would be problematic, as we aren't even allowed to give $1 to just anyone. On the other hand, if someone was dying and another person was in need of his heart, and he was an observant Jew, it would be a big Mitzvah. All the rest is where the politics exist, and unless it's Nogayah, my father would prefer to keep out. I already approached him on this. AA
