Panela, Rapadura

Question

Dear R' Abadi, I've recently come across a product known by several names. Its sugar cane that is boiled down to juice/pulp, which is then cooled and hardened into cakes. It is not processed in any way beyond that. It is known in South American countries as panella (Mexico I believe) and rapadura (Brazil). Is this considered kosher? Does it require a hechsher? What about for Pesach? Gut moed, Simon

I don't know what it's called in US, but sugar cane is kosher. If it is processed with no other items, it would be ok. CYA
