parties on sefira

Question

kavod harav- is there a competent shittah to rely on that would allow me to attend an engagement party during the sefira? i am not referring to an informal get together of a few friends to honor the occasion- i am referring to a party where all friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers of both sets of parents are invited (ie a full blown, catered event). i do not know whether there will be music there. thank you.
