PathMark fish
Question
The question of fish in a non-kosher store was brought up. From what I understood, we can buy the fish in the non-kosher store, as long as it is whole. It's OK for them to remove the scales. Anything else is a problem. What I was told is that the sharp blow of the knife, makes it (the knife) absorb ta'am. What about having them clean it and fillet it? What about the fish fillet in packages? Is this correct? If not, please clarify.
Answer
Answered by Aaron AbadiIf you know which fish it is, it's fine. If you're not sure, and you have scales & fins you're fine. If it's filleted and packaged in a supermarket, where the employee would have no benefit from lying to you & packaging it with the wrong type, it's also OK. AA
