Pet Food
Question
I saw a web site which stated that you can't feed your pet basar ve-chalav since according to the halakhah you can't receive benefit from this (and the Shulhan Arukh says that you can't feed your livestock basar ve-chalav for this reason). Does this really apply to a pet? After all, I see how one gets "benefit" from feeding basar ve-chalav to livestock, which work for you and produce food. But can it be said that one gets "benefit" from feeding basar ve-chalav to a pet dog or cat?
