Philly Cream Cheese

Question

I have been meaning to mention this for months, but keep forgetting. Kraft Philadelphia Cream Cheese is "supervised" by the OK and not the OU. The OK has a section on their website which indicates whether or not a Mashgiah is present for the "cheesing". These products as well as several types of Ricotta and Cottages cheeses that are "supervised" by the OK do NOT indicate that a Mashgiah is present for the production. I have called the OK directly in the past to verify that the information that is posted on their website vis a vis particular cheese products being supervised by a Mashigiah is indeed accurate and have found it to be so. Perhaps we have been unfair for singling out the OU when discussing these matters.

True! It is the same by most Hashgachot. The OU is unique in the fact that they realized their mistake. Admitted to it. But rather than correct it, they went out looking for a Heter (approval) to continue. This is all present in the emails sequence as we posted earlier. I will copy it here for those that missed it. AA
