playing ball on shabbos

TO CYA :You are right it is muttar.You also are right a true yiras shamayim would not play on shabbos.There a Rav Blumenthal Z"L {Shoshana Parrach}from Newark.In his sefer he has a tushuva that Rav Eli Mayer Bloch ask him about playing a ball game on shabbos.Could be a organize ball game refers to the Yerushalmi in Taanis,but stam ball playing with childern to keep then busy is more like the Shuchan Aruch. I be wrong let me know what you thing.Good vach. p.s. In some cities which have a eruv you could see organize baseball game in a park on shabbos.Yankel

Answered by Chaim Yisrael AbadiI don't know if the word Yiras Shamayim was what I said, but even an organized game for people who are organizing the game is probably better than the other choices of activities. Our goal here on the website is to give the answers L'Halacha from my father as we hear and understand them. My father may say its better not, but its muttar. The famous line that is used by many "Hamachmir, yachmir l'atzmo velo l'acheirim" one who wants to be stringent, should be stringent for himself not for others. CYA
