Baruch Lanner?! WAs that the correct answer? What do I win?! AA ___-_ Baruch Lanner was one person (who never did anything as bad as certain priests) and his mistakes should not be allowed to tarnish the image of the only organization in the world that does anything to show unaffiliated teens the beauty of yahadut. And you didn't answer my question. Are you in favor of having the OU abolished? Do you really think Judaism, and the cause of kashrut and kiruv would be better of if the OU ceased to exist? If so, please explain.

Answered by Aaron AbadiI have a solution for Kiruv and Judaism that is mathimatical and pure logic. We spend millions each year on Kiruv, trying to convince people who don't really want to be Jewish, to become religious. Let's divert those funds to other useful projects and let's close down all Kiruv organizations. (Relax, I'm just trying to show a point. I believe in Kiruv and am a strong advocate). Now let's figure that the Kiruv Organizations together bring in a new 50,000 Jews to become religious each year. At the same time, there are 100,000 lost to the world each year between, drugs, kids at risk, intermarriage, and just plain sick of .... Here's my plan: Let's from now on be nice and normal to that 100,000. Try to keep them all. Don't make them crazy with all this extra junk. Let's say we keep 75,000 and only lose 25,000. Even if we stopped Kiruv cold-turkey, we would still be ahead by 25,000 or 150%. Wow! What a deal! Then we can add Kiruv to that and knock 'en through the roof. It'll make those United Way signs look like mashed potatoes in comparison. Hey! Why not try it? AA
