Problematic Ingredients
Question
According to the Celiac website, glycerides (mono- and di-), artificial flavors and colors and vegetable protein are all potentially wheat-based ingredients. This is obviously a scientific statement which may or may not be in accordance with the Torah definition of chamets (i.e., these items may be inedible.) Are these ingredients problematic for pesach? 2) If they are not edible, is there a problem of achshevei once they are put into a food, or is it OK as long as you don't intend to be Machshiv that particular ingredient?
Answer
Answered by Aaron Abadi1) Not all "celiac websites" are reliable. Not all celiac laws are equal to Jewish Laws. We are aware of the ingredients that are good and the ones that are not. 2) Correct, it's OK. AA
