putting on talis in shul

Question

As a single guy, do I have to say the bracha for putting on a talis if I'm getting an aliyah? Do I have to wrap it over my head like the married guys (and Sephardim) do in the morning, or is my bracha on tzisis enough? I never know what to do, and don't want to hold up the show, so I just sling it on and head up to the bimah. Please enlighten, Thanks!
