Re: Chumra guess

Question

I DID once ask a well known Rosh Yeshiva within the Chofetz Chaim movement how it was that the schools under his leadership hired Gentile secular studies teachers when it was so clearly forbidden according to what we had been taught were the halachot of the Shulhan Aruh (I verified with our Rav at the time that I was correct in believing this to be the halacha. This was before I had ever heard of those who have ruled that "today's Gentiles are not Ovdei Avodah Zara therefore we can have them teaching in our schools and caring for our children and we don't even have to supervise their cooking".(So WHY can't we wear their hair???). I DID ask this in a polite and respectful way and made it very clear BEFORE asking the question that I was in no way questioning the Rav but only hoping to be educated. The answer was ......... and I quote....... "the Shulhan Aruh, no one holds by that anymore". Okay that might be true (remember we must alter the religion to suit what the people either are already doing or simply wish to do) and now...... I guess Rav Elyashiv, himself.
