Thanks for your reply on this and interesting to hear that others have had similar situations. By the way, meant to type that my great-great grandfather was *not* chassidic--otherwise I might think that my less observant great grandfather, who was a child when his father died, had confused sephardi with nusach sephard. But that seems clearly not the case. Thanks again. Michael
