re: ikarim post

Question

A poster with the nom de plume “Macher” has completely misread Marc Shapiro’s book, “The Limits of Orthodox Theology” (if he has read it at all). Macher writes: “In any case, this professor thinks that to be a good Jew you simply need to follow the laws, and it doesn't matter whether you believe Hashem is incorporeal or has a human form.” He also states that Professor Shapiro concludes that the ikarim are “a matter of personal choice, not required beliefs”. He should read—carefully—pages 29-37, and then ask mehilah.
