Re: Is this sundae kosher?
Question
Thank you for the quick response, and I apologize for the delay in getting back to you. The chain that sells this sundae is McDonalds. The ingredients were obtained from their website: http://www.mcdonalds.com/app_controller.nutrition.categories.ingredients.index.html#8 Knowing that you said a prepared product from Micky D's is kosher will probably make many of your readers cringe. However, it is consistent with your approach to beig "real" with kashut, and not being machmir based on "feelings" or "perceptions". That being said, would eating the sundae in the McDonalds store or at an adjoining shared food court be problematic for Marit 'Ayin? Or, does any issue of Marit 'Ayin dissipate once a subset of their products is deemed kosher (i.e., soda, coffee, sundaes)? Thank you, Jack D. >>Strawberry Sundae: Vanilla Reduced Fat Ice Cream: Whole milk, sucrose, cream, nonfat milk solids, corn syrup solids, mono and diglycerides, guar gum, imitation vanilla flavor, carrageenan, cellulose gum, vitamin A palmitate. >>Strawberry Topping: Strawberries, sugar, water, natural (vegetable source) and artificial flavors, high fructose corn syrup, citric acid, pectin, locust bean gum, benzoate or potassium sorbate (preservative), calcium chloride, artificial color (FD&C red #40). >>I don't know if it matters, but it is served in a major, international treif fast food chain. If it matters, I can specify the chain. >
