Hi Rabbi, Why is it assur for pumping breast milk on shabbat? There are manual pumps that do not use electricity. Is the pumping one of the 39 melachot? I appreciate any clarification you can give me. Thank you, Jomiz

It is assur because of the Melacha of Dash. It would be muttar if it was being done to throw out, but not to save. CYA
