Ovadia's (and others') permissiveness on this matter is based on a single source misquoting the original source. In the end, your father brings a second piece of evidence, since the original source cited the G'mara's example of reheating a chicken - something that definitely has no liquid. This seems to directly contradict your reply cited above, which suggests that re-heating any food on Shabbath is not permitted. If your father felt that re-heating a "precooked dry cold food" was not permitted, he would have indicated that re-heating ANY food was impermissible in his response in Ohr Yitzchak. That is clearly not the case. So then we are left with *process*: Your reply must mean that re-heating a "precooked dry cold food" is permissible using methods other than placing it on the blech. Does that mean that it would be permissible to re-heat "precooked dry cold food" if it was placed in a pan on an upturned pot on a blech? Does it matter if the stove knobs/dials are removed before Shabbath? What would be the proper way to warm up dry (liquidless) food from the fridge on Shabbath? Thank you for the clarification. Jack D.
