re: turning off stove

Question

1) I thought you can not put out a fire. Is it ok to shut the stove because you are not putting out the fire, just causing it to go out by cutting off the gas supply? 2)Can you tell a non-jew to light the electric stove (that is not unplugged). Since she can go and find a lit flame by the neighbors house (and bring it over), you can have in your mind that she does it that way (b'heter), and if she chooses to make her life easier and just light it herself (b'issur) is that ok?
