reading ingredients
Question
Let's say that somebody's rav holds that gelitin is unkosher, or that whey is dairy. I assume Rabbi Abadi would recomend he follow that Rabbi's opinion. Would Rav Abadi still say that this person could read ingredients (ie. look out for gelatin or whey)? In other words, is the ingredient reading method of shmirat kashrut a psak of Rav Abadi's, or is it a universal rule? Can my Rabbi tell me that I have to look for kosher symbols on my food? Thanks Thanks
Answer
Answered by Aaron AbadiIt has been the rule till the last ten-twenty years. It is still the rule in Europe, California, Canada, etc. Rav Moshe Feinstien has it in his Sefer. (Yoreh Deah A #55) AA
