Reform marriage

Does a couple that had a Reform or Conservative marriage need a get? Please ask your father.

Answered by Chaim Yisrael AbadiNOPE CYA My understanding is that applies only bedieved, to matir a mamzer,but I do not know any Rav that will perform a wedding ceremony without at least making every effort to obtain a get. As I'm sure you are aware, Rav Henkin zt'l diagreed most strongly with Rav Moshe on this issue. In any event, the actual ceremony must be investigated, especially with a Conservative Rabbi, as if the witnesses were proper and the proper words were said, an halachic marriage does not require any Rabbi at all.
