RESPECTING A RAV

Question

WHY is it today that people respect a rav in their community.But what then they go ahead and disrespect a rav who happend to be this rav"s teacher.It's about time we relize its all political and respect a rav for his halacha knowledge and not his name.Would we disrespect the DR. who taught our DR. NO! because we know that would be foolish because all the wisdom is commi from the original DR. THANK YOU YISROEL
