Rice Cakes

Question

in noticed that rice cakes are listed for sephardim only. If the cakes are of just air puffed rice shouldn't it be permissable for ashkenazim as well. According to my understanding Rice alone (without contact with water) should be OK on pesach because you can eat Wheat kernels on pesach, and kitniyot can't be more machmir than chematz itslef. so i guess my basic question is can rice cakes that are air puffed only be ok for ashkenazim ( and the same for air popped popcorn) Thank You
