ricotta cheese

Question

Dear Rabbi, Does the G'ZERA of g'vinat akum apply to Ricotta cheese? Ingredients:skim milk, whey, salt vinegar, and xanthan gum, locust bean gum, guar gum (stabilizers),and vitamin a palmitate. It seems that this product is beeing processed without the "cultures" beeing used in regular cheeses.Thank you.

I would assume that by calling it "cheese," it is a cheese, and would under the Issur (prohibition) of Gevinat Akum (cheese of a non-jew) as per the opinion of the consensus of the Poskim. Unless you can prove otherwise. AA
