Rolled oats, spelt, rye, wheat

Question

All rolled grains are precooked because it is necessary to steam them at a very high temperature to roll them. Before this miraculous process was discovered, the world was stuck eating a product that resembles today's "scottish oats". They are whole oats sort of chopped up. To cook them you have to really boil them a long time or put them overnight in the crockpot. Now due to the miraculous process of rolled, steamed cereal grains, we can simply boil water, add our oats and even if we are using "old fashioned" oats we are still eating breakfast in 5-10 minutes. Believe it or not this was a revolutionary innovative product about a century ago, an "instant" breakfast. There is nothing like oatmeal, eat it everyday, you will have lower cholesterol, more stable blood sugar, a nice full tummy and a delicious, inexpensive and nutritious breakfast. It's worth getting up 15 minutes earlier to start your day off nutritionally right.
