rollerblading

Question

I was frankly very surprised to see your positive response regarding the permissibility of rollerblading on Shabbat and Yom Tov. I would like to hear the rationale for that and the sources for the heter. If nothing more, rollerblading would seem to me to be "Uvda D'Chol" (weekday work) and be forbidden for that reason alone. Is your answer a widely-known p'sak? I mean no disrespect, I am genuinely interested in learning the answer. I have no intentions of ever rollerblading on Shabbat regardless, but I am curious about the halachic implications.

"Uvda D'Chol" (weekday work) is not something we would decide. It would have to be written in the Talmud or the rishonim. Eating, sleeping, walking, lounging, etc. would all be "Uvda D'Chol" (weekday work)..... AA
