Shabbat
Question
Shulhan Arukh 261:2 says that Shabbat really doesn't start at sunset and that the entire time from sunset to twilight is optional as far as adding to to Shabbat. So how come today we all light at sunset?

Answered by Aaron AbadiThe Psak Halachah (rule)today is to stop all "Melachot" (forbidden activities on Shabbat) as of sunset. If you were to look through the entire Sugya, you'll see that. However, this 18 minutes before thing is not necessary. AA
