Shabbat

Am I obligated to accept Shabbat at 7PM which is when the synagogue in my town has Kabbalat Shabbat?

The only time you would be, is if it is the only Synagogue in your area that you can reach on Shabbat, and that they accept early Shabbat as a special Mitzvah to increase the time of Shabbat. Then we say "Al Tifrosh Min Hatzibur." Today, the real reason is, so as not to eat supper so late, or to get the kids to bed at a proper time. Therefore, this law does not apply. aaron Abadi
