shabbat course

Question

I am a surgeon and have a critically important review seminar that spans over shabbat. Almost all surgeons in my field take this course. Some of the activities involve using electrical instruments. The course is only given over shabbat. Can I participate in these seminars(specifically the ones involving learning how to use these electrical instruments)?
