sneakers w/lights ,waiting after meat

Question

hi there: My son is 61/2.he has sneakers that light up when he walks. Can he wear them on shabbos? At what age do my children have to wait before eating milk after a meat meal? Do you reccommend having them wait a small period of time? Thanks. Chaya
