However, I would suggest that you at least consider the fact that most of Orthodoxy accepts that an onion is a davar charif, that takes on the qualities of a knife that's used to slice it. One of your correspondants acctually stated that it was a "myth" that onions are sharp. How might people learn to respect Rabbis, if they are encouraged to think that a view held by most all rabbis is a "myth?" My advice: whenever you offer your father's opinion about onions, at least mention that the rest of the world disagrees. It will mean a lot, to a lot of people. Thanks, EDWARD ANDERTON
