Spending money

Question

If a person has lots of money and chooses to spend lots of money on a simcha, why should they worry what others think? So many pressures and "guidelines" out there to have some sort of communist attitude regarding simchas, i feel if you can do it then do it, if not then be happy with what you canb do and stop forcing others to spend money on simchas. I see people driving expensive cars and buying huge houses but those same people complain when there are more than two hot dishes at a kiddush, in my eyes it is the simchas that are "kosher" expenses and a great investment for those who enjoy nachas as a return on investment... this whole pressure and trend of dont spend on simchas has me really fed up... whats the real deal?

Well, overspending is getting out of hand, but I certainly don't want to hear it from people who are making lavish dinners at fancy hotels and are honoring the biggest spenders. AA
