sponges
Question
i was just wondering what sponges are acceptable for use on shabbos. I know the round mesh ones are. There are these sponges that are just the scrubber part without the spongy side. Are these acceptable or do they hold too much water? I think the issue is that one is not permitted to squeeze, right? TY
Answer
Answered by Aaron AbadiScrubbers are fine. Not permitted to squeeze out the liquid absorbed into it, in order to use the liquid. You could squueze out a sponge in order to remove the excess liquid so that it should dry quicker. Or to use a sponge to absorb a spill and squeeze it out into the sink. AA correction: squeezing a towel deliberately would be a problem, but drying yourself with one is fine. Sponges can be squeezed out as we explained.
