stealing

Question

what happens if someone knowingly stole something from a dept. store, and feels really terrible about it, but there is no way to return the item after it has been used?

Not much of a help to return it. Pay the money to the store. Send them a money order with a note of apology and you will be elevating yourself to higher level spiritually than many can attain. AA
