stove on yom tov

Question

Dear Rabbi: I just saw your posting and I need a clarificiation. Is it ok to turn a stovetop or oven with electronic controls(no pilot) on and off on Yom Tov? I repeat--there is no pilot and the gas is ignited by an electronic spark. Thanks.

off, yes. On, is a problem. It should be lit before Yom Tov or lighted from a flame that was lit before Yom Tov. If your flame was on & it blew out, it can be relit on Yom Tov. AA
