Please allow me to add another idea. Many shuls do not start Maariv till 50, 60, 72 or 90 minutes after shkia. Make kiddush and eat something before you go to shul and even eat a regular meal. I've done that for years. CYA ============================= What is the Earliest halachically permissible time to make kiddush and begin Simchat Torah dinner on Motzaei Shabbat ? (Sundown, 30 min. after Sundown ... etc ) Thanks for the suggestion and clarification
