Regarding Shaitels: I have discovered the secret reasoning behind the Machmirim on Indian hair. We see in Megillas Rus that Naomi warns Rus that avodah Zara is ossur for us Jews, to which Rus responds Elokayich Elokai. The difficult question is that Avodah Zara is ossur for goyim too. Though many answers are offered, the most compelling is thus: A non-Jewish woman doesn't have to cover her hair, but if she becomes a Jew, then she does, and Avodah Zara now becomes a challenge to her... Clearly, this great difficulty and its obvious resolution is a "hechreich" for those Poskim to be Machmir.
