tables and counters

Question

why does shulchan aruch (351:20) say that it is we pour boiling water on the tables and teyvot (boxes?) since sometimes hot soup spills on it. doesn't this contradict the halacha of rov tashmisho? thanks henry

Some are Machmir on Rov Tashmisho, and maybe others used that table and Tayvah differently. The culture and lifestyle was so different then. AA
