Tefilin
Question
How often is it required to check one;s tefilin? i last had them checked 10/98. the tefilin shel yad are still well sealed and the rosh are slightly openening from when i occassionally use them with wet hair please advise. and does the time required to have them checked depend on if they are still sealed as described above? can you recommend a sofer in bklyn? thanks ds

Answered by Aaron AbadiAaron Berlin or Aaron Sonenshein for starters. Normally you don't need to check them unless you see it aging. When using it with wet hair, show it to a Sofer. You may need to check it often. AA
