timed cooking on Shabbat

Question

For example can I: 1. Put rice and water in my rice cooker before Shabbat and put a timer on it to turn it on and off on Shabbat so that we could have fresh cooked rice on Shabbat? 2. Does the food have to be put in raw before Shabbat or just raw before the appliance turns on? 3. Can I use this way any appliance such as a popcorn maker, a Nesco roaster (it is a portable oven), an espresso machine that grinds and then makes coffee ? 4. Are we allowed to put everything in the bread machine before Shabbat and put it on a timer so that there is fresh hot bread Shabbat morning? Thank you very much!!!
