Trusting non-religious

Question

If a non-religious friend gives me a piece of meat and says he bought it from the glatt kosher store, am I permitted to trust him (since he is not getting any financial gain).

Not true. He gets gain that you accept his gift. It also depends on other details. Can you check up on him and see if he really went there? And many other side question. AA
