umbililical cord

Question

you mentioned that it is permissable for a man to cut his child's umbilical cord at birth. can you please clarify? isn't this considered a violation of one of the harchakot of niddah? if not, please provide the source. i would be interested in reading up on it. thank you.

If it is medically needed it is OK. The entire concept is a bit foreign to me. AA
