vegetarian restaurant

Question

there is a vegatarian restaurant in cedarhurst who managed to get the hechser of the OK Laboratories, a nationally recognized hasgacha. they are, however, not under the 5 towns vaad. I have seen letters in the local shuls recommending NOT to eat there. Can one go against the local vaad in favor of the national hasgacha and rely on that?
