Whey

Question

When you say whey is not edible, what exactly do you mean by edible (since we do eat it). I realize you are talking about eating it by itself, but I would like to know from a halakhic standpoint, what is the definition of edible? Is it what people generally would do? is it that there is no taste? Thanks.
