Whey

Question

Is whey "naturaly" kosher? From what I understand, whey is the byproduct of cheese making. So if the cheese that they are making is kosher then there is no problem. But if the cheese that they are making is not koshe, can we say that since this is a by product, not really desirable, and anyway mostly water, the non kosher enzyme in the cheese is batel be shishim?
