why a black hat specifically?

Question

What is the deal with Black hats? First, i have been unable to get a real reason why the yeshivish community wears them. second, why black? wouldn't other colors be as formal, e.g. grey, navy etc. any ideas?

It's evolution. The hat evolved into black... No reason. No need. Skip it. AA
