why brushing is assur

Question

I thought the issue with brushing teeth was you may bleed. isnt that the reason they assured brushing teeth on shabbos?

I'm not sure why they assured brushing teeth. If someone has gums that bleed every time he brushes, he should probably have it checked out. If not, why is it assur. Maybe tzovea (coloring). I guess that would depend on how dirty the teeth look. CYA
