Why the delay?

Please, I do not mean to be disrespectful, but many people are relying on your answers as you are one of the only Rabbis that are not machmir unnecessarily when they dont know. it is almost Shabbat again. I need answers 1]Is it permiited to use Swinefat Suppository Gelcaps on Shabbat for a mild case of hemmerroids, or is this refuah? 2] Is it ever permitted because it is from a pig? 3] Are herbal remedies also a problem of refuah? 4] The instructions say that they should be opened before insertion, is this a problem on Shabbat? 5] Is it smearing? 6] If all this is forbidden what about if it is not a mild case? 7] What are the criterion? Please let me know before Shabbat. Thank you for a wonderful website!

Answered by Aaron Abadi1) Yes 2) No problem 3) Usually. 4) No problem 5) No 6) If you are looking to forbid it, try another web site.... 7) Medicine is not allowed on Shabbat unless a person is sick enough or uncomfortable enough to be bed-ridden. It is not necessarily literal, that you must be in bed. The concept is that it disrupts your normal functioning. Other examples are as follows: Someone who has allergies and needs Claritin or Allegra. Any serious stomach pains requiring Prilosec, Tums, or whatever. A bad cold. A migraine headache Use your judgment. Things that are not OK are like the following: A minor headache A lite stomach ache A small cough A running nose A boo-boo needing a little Neasporin. Etc....
