Wigs still Assur?

Question

I've heard from what I consider somewhat reliable sources that the rabbonim in Eretz Yisroel who said the wigs were assur realized they goofed, but are remainig silent while trying to find face saving way out. They may be afraid that the next time (tomorrow?) whne they come out with another "it's Assur!" statement no one will listen and /or kavod hatorah will take a big hit.
