Women and Tefila

Question

Are women chayav to follow the zmanei hatefila when they say the amidah? If so, why isn't it a "mitzvah asei shehazman gerama, and thus they would be patur?"

Yes The Talmud explains why in Brachot. It says that Tefilah (prayer) is for mercy, and women need mercy too. AA
